Burger Wars Episode X: Albannach pure Scottish Pride

In my search for the best burger in London I passed by Albannach in Trafalgar Square. Rob joined me this time, nobody can have a better opinion of a burger than a New Yorker that knows JG Mellon and Shake Shack. The place has a dark atmosphere, dull lights, posh clientele, and good service. The best of the Scottish classics on the menu, or as they say "our heart and soul will always lie North of the Border", Thursdays live jazz, and a really interesting whisky selection, probably even Hennigans as in “The Red Dot” Seinfeld episode where Kramer had a few drinks of an old scotch that Jerry had been using as a paint thinner.

Kramer: That is a damn good scotch. I could do a commercial for this stuff. Mmmmm, boy that Hennigans goes down smooth, and afterwards you don’t even smell. That’s right folks, I just had three shots of Hennigans and I don’t smell. Imagine you can walk around drunk all day. That’s Hennigans, the no smell, no tell scotch.

The attraction was the Albannach Burger a combination of classic flavours, homemade beef burger, with tomato, bacon, cheddar cheese, and a twist of spicy tomato sauce. It comes with chips, and it’s just presented in a really gourmet way. I also had to have the haggis, and a couple beers.

The verdict, amazing flavours, cooked perfect medium rare, chips were fat and big but sadly undercooked, the haggis just amazing it was a pleasant surprise.

The damage, 16 pounds for the burger, chips, and a beer.

The conclusion, one of the best burgers so far, the beef really tender and tasty, sadly the fries didn’t deliver as the burger or the haggis. I have to give them a 7 because of the undercooked fries.
