Melted in Cleveland

I went to Cleveland to see the city, enjoyed an NBA match (Cavs vs Pacers), passed by the Rock n’ Roll hall of fame, and did a little of sightseeing, west side market, city hall, and the biggest rubber stamp in the world. As far as eating goes, I went again in Morton’s steakhouse, good stake as usual, but the Chicago experience was much better.

Also I ate in Lola, Iron Chef Michael Symon’s restaurant. I went to the place after watching Anthony Bourdain’s “No Reservation” Cleveland episode. Fine dining at its best, I had crispy bone marrow, and the roasted chicken. One of the best meals I’ve had.

But the place I most enjoyed in Cleveland was Melt. They have two locations in the city, and their speciality is grilled cheese sandwich. The place is always packed, I had to go twice to be able to eat, my first intent the queue to get a table was too huge so I decided to come back the next day earlier to avoid the local crowd. Posters and pictures are the décor of the place, Spaceballs in the TVs, 25 different options, and even a Melt Challenge, their monster grilled cheese, with 13 different cheeses, 3 slides of grilled bread, and as a side chips and slaw.

The Sandwich parlour

Too many options, at the end I went for the Hot Italian, grilled salami, honey ham, pepperoni, sun-dried tomato pesto, roasted garlic, and provolone. The best grilled cheese sandwich ever… sorry Kappacasein…

Say Grilled Cheese

To give you an idea how good it is, probably you will have to wait between half and hour to an hour to get your table, then you will also wait for your grilled cheese another 45 minutes, finally the service is regular, but I promise you this, you won’t regret having this experience, and as soon as you left the place you will start to think when you will be coming back.

Cleveland reminds me the Seinfeld episode "The Hot Tub".

Jerry: Elaine, what's the alarm clock situation in your house?

Elaine: Jerry...
Jerry: It's a simple question...
Elaine: I've got an alarm, ok?
Jerry: That old one? Didn't I once miss a flight to Cleveland because of that alarm clock?
Jean-Paul: Flight to Cleveland?
Elaine: It works.
Jerry: Elaine...
Elaine: It... works!
