When I read reviews about Sartori, and how good the pizza was, the one thing I never expected was their location, they are in the middle of Leicester Square, surrounded by millions of tourist traps, souvenir shops, and many places I wouldn’t even dare to get in.
Traditional Southern Italian cuisine, opened in 2010, Neapolitan pizzas individual sizes or if you dare go by the metre long, all of them baked in their wood fired brick oven by chefs from Napoli, actually as soon as you enter the place is like being in Italy, all the staff members are Italians.
I was with Marisol and we decided to go for a pizza and a panuozzo. For the ones that don’t know Panuozzo is like a pizza sandwich, traditional from Gragnano, first you baked the pizza dough, then filled it with the ingredients, and it’s ready to serve.
We got the Napoletana pizza, anchovies, black olives, capers, and oregano with tomato and mozzarella, and the Estate panuozzo, fresh chopped tomatoes, mozzarella and Parma ham.
The pizza was great, nice flavours, traditional Naples style, the anchovies were in charge of the flavour, really nice. The Panuozzo was superb, another revelation of the Italian cuisine, it’s absolutely fantastic, the crispy toasted pizza dough filled with the melted mozzarella and the subtle Parma ham it was like heaven.
|Best of the day|
Great place, in the middle of the action, surrounded by tourists, and souvenir shops, excellent option to try Italian cuisine if you’re in the area.
Pizza reminds me the Seinfeld episode “The Frogger”
Jerry: You know, I shouldn't go out with a friend of yours. I foresee messiness
Elaine: Yeah, you're better off sitting around here, reading comic books, and eating spaghetti at two in the morning
Jerry: Hey, speaking of tomato sauce, do you want to come with me and George to Mario's Pizza?
Elaine: Your old high school hangout? Why?
Jerry: They're closing. We're going for one last slice
